For Pet Owners
A collection of resources and articles so you can learn more about home euthanasia.
Is home euthanasia the right choice for my pet?
Discuss euthanasia with your veterinarian – It is important that you are comfortable with the decision to euthanize your pet. Many people find it valuable to discuss this decision with their regular veterinarian first. Paw prints veterinarians do not provide clinical consultations, so the decision to euthanize your pet must be made prior to referral for home euthanasia.
Some pets are better in clinic – Some pets can be more aggressive or anxious around strangers in their home environment. We find that these pets tend to have a calmer experience of euthanasia in clinic, in a more controlled setting. It is also recommended that unstable (critically ill or severely injured) pets be euthanized in clinic.
Pricing – In clinic euthanasia will cost less than home euthanasia, and for some people, the benefits of home euthanasia do not outweigh the cost. Please contact your regular veterinarian or contact us for up to date costs for home euthanasia.
